RIBARIBA or “Raising International Business Awareness” is the second biggest curriculum development project financed by the Erasmus and Socrates network of the European Commission (for the academic years 2005-2007) in which 7 international higher educational institutions participate. These 7 institutions offer bachelor trainings in Economics, Business and Administration, Management and Office Management and exchange students within the closed network of these 6 partners. Therefore, the students able to participate in RIBA exchanges (these always take place in the Fall Semester from September until January and amount to 30 ECTS) are students with a business or an economic background.

The 7 institutions participating are:
Arteveldehogeschool (Ghent, Belgium, main co-ordinator of the project)
Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (Pori, Finland)
University of Applied Sciences Deggendorf (Deggendorf, Germany)
Dokuz Eylül University (Izmir, Turkey)
Academy of Management & Business (Vilnius, Lithuania)
Hogeschool Rotterdam (Rotterdam, the Netherlands)
Idrac International School of Management (Lyon, France)

A “curriculum development project” means that these 7 institutions work together on creating courses/modules which are approved of by each of the other partner institutions. In this way, the RIBA partners want to avoid the problems they were often confronted with when exchanging Erasmus students in the past: students were often ‘shopping’ for courses and occasionally took courses that did not fit in with their profile or educational background.
To solve this issue, the RIBA courses of all 7 partner institutions were jointly created and are fully transparent. Therefore, whenever exchanging students, the institutions know in advance that the courses their students will take abroad are fully approved of, have the right level leading to the appropriate competences, have a transparent evaluation system and have didactical approaches mutually agreed upon. Of course, the language of instruction is English.
The RIBA modules of each of the 7 institutions focus on two important themes:
1. Europe and the attitude of the country towards the European development and themes
2. The courses equally focus on country and culture specific aspects so as to allow foreign students to fit in with the guest country as soon as possible.

The aim of RIBA is to prepare the participating students to live and work in a European and multicultural environment, free from the prejudices sometimes preventing a fruitful co-operation.

As of August 2007, the 7 RIBA partners want to open up the network and allow other higher education institutions to join the RIBA joint curriculum development project.
Foreign students are of course always welcome (as of September 2006) to participate in any RIBA module at any RIBA partner institution.
