ImagePori is a city on the west coast of Finland. The centre of the city is located 15 km from the coast of Gulf of Bothnia.
Pori is part of the province of Western Finland and is the most important town in the Satakunta region. It is the 10th largest city in Finland, and the 8th largest urban area.

Traditionally, the city was an industrial and port city, but it has rapidly transformed itself into a city of students. Its strong ties to culture have kept the city vigorous for centuries.

The centre of the city offers the population a wide variety of services and a pleasant environment. The market place is the heart of the city, a few hundred meters from Kokemöki river, which divides the city in two.
Various groups perform in the pedestrian street, Yrjφnkatu, which starts at the market place, bringing the street to life in summer and in winter.

ImageCentral Pori Church is situated between the two bridges crossing the River. The Neo-Gothic church’s cast-iron steeple is unique in Finland. The Reposaari Church was built in the Norwegian style 1876. It is known that the drawings came from Stockholm.

Kirjurinluoto Island, situated in the middle of the town in the river, is a beautiful natural park, with a summer theatre. You’ll find here also a Petanque field, some bird ponds and children's playground. The most significant music event is the annual international Jazz Festival held on the Island.(hyperlink naar Cultural events)

ImagePromenadikeskus is popular meeting place in the heart of town. It offers a concert and assembly hall for 700 people as well as adventures on the film screen in five movie theatres.

ImageYyteri is a district in the city of Pori, it is located about 9 km away from the city centre, bording the Baltic sea. Yyteri is not an urban district, instead it is mostly like a holiday resort. Yyteri is most famous for its beach, which stretches for about six kilometres, and is very popular among both Porians and people from elsewhere in Finland.

Reposaari is about 32 kilometres from the town. An embankment road connects Reposaari to the Mδntyluoto highway. Reposaari is a distinctive wooden house town, for which the harbour has always played an important role.
